I recently took a cruise around the Caribbean with Princess Cruises on the Crown Princess ship. I was initially really nervous about what I would eat on the cruise. I brought nuts, snacks, protein bars, and all kinds of things that I could sneak in my room like a kid at fat camp. The good news is- I really only had to use them in the airport!
The cruise staff did an awesome job at dinner time finding me things to eat, telling me what they could and couldn't make vegan, and even going off menu a few nights. I mean sure I had to order 24 hours in advance and could only be helped by Head Waiter Alex so I felt like a huge inconvenience but hey- better than being forgotten and hungry right? Breakfast was breakfast with fruit, granola, and soymilk that I asked the waiter for. Lunch was pretty hard the first few days until I used my feminine wiles and made friends with the cooks from India and Thailand and they were able to make me some amazing vegan food. All in all I would say I was one happy vegan.
So... what did I actually eat? Here is a little list to assure you I am not lying, cause I know how sketchy you think I am:
Lunch:
Basmati Rice and Curried Vegetables
Bamboo Shoots and Bok Choy sauteed with brown rice
Sauteed veggies with pasta
Salads with lots of veggies and nuts
Dinner:
Vegan soups (Curried pumpkin, mushroom, tomato)
Salads of varying sizes, shapes, colors, and temperatures
Vegetable pasta
Vegetable fritters with sweet potato fries
Tofu and lentils
Lentil burgers
Dessert:
Sorbets of every color, fruit and flavor
Flourless, eggless, dairyless chocolate cake made especially for me (who knows if that is true or they just have a few on hand for difficulties but don't rain on my parade I'm feeling special)
Now- if you are a vegetarian- get really really excited. I mean pumped. I mean so excited that you are on the internet on your phone as you read this looking for the next cruise! There were so many choices for vegetarians. Dinners each night had 6-12 options on the menu that you could choose from with 1-3 choices in each category- appetizer, soup/salad, entree, specialties. Breakfast was full of eggy, meatless options. And lunch usually had whole sections of non-meat items.
So thank you PC (yeah, I'm on a nickname basis with my cruiseline, so what?) for ensuring that the few pounds I lost in preparation for the cruise came back to me.

Really glad to read this, as we are going to Alaska next week on Princess.
